Help spread the word about Invisible Illness Awareness Week 2009

From Lisa Copen, founder of Rest Ministries and Invisible Illness Awareness Week:

Hi, Friends!

We are getting closer to Invisible Illness Awareness Week and our goal is to make sure as many people as possible are informed about our cool "virtual" conference which will be held online (for free) Sept 14-18, 2009. Workshops will be at 9 am, noon, 3 and 5:30 pm Pacific time each day (live via Blog Talk Radio). You can even call in and ask questions! And we are giving away lots of prizes too!

To help us reach the 133 million people living with chronic illness I've put together a list: "6 Ways You Can Make a Difference on Facebook" to help us out!

You don't have to do all 6... just pick 1 or 2 that you are able to help with (Of course, all 6 would be fabulous, but I know you need time to sleep... and eat... and play weird games on FB like Mafia Wars or Farm Town.)

Facebook has become an amazing way to connect with non-profit organizations you care about. Won’t you help us spread the word? Here are some easy ways connect your friends with a cause you care about!

1. Invite your friends to join the cause. Nearly 1 in 2 people in the U.S. live with a chronic illness. Every one of your friends knows someone with an illness! Visit our Facebook invitation page and under the logo choose "Invite."

2. Make a donation. Rest Ministries sponsors this entire event and this year we have gone in debt to do it. We’d love to have our expenses covered. Head back to our Facebook page and click "Donate."

3. Be a Fan. By joining little things like this our logo pops up in the right-hand column of your friends so it helps us reach more people very easily.

4. Do you have a birthday coming up? You can make a "birthday wish" by asking people to donate to our cause on your behalf. Just visit the birthday cause page and follow the three simple steps. By asking friends to donate to your "birthday age" (i.e. $30 if you are turning 30) in lieu of gifts, you can easily raise money for Invisible Illness Week!

5. Join our Facebook Group for Invisible Illness. Easy!

6. Do you have an illness? If so, fill out our meme, "30 Things About My Invisible Illness You May Not Know." (Confused? See "what is a meme"). Copy and share it with others via Facebook, your blog, etc.

Thanks for your help in spreading the word about Invisible Illness Awareness Week! To make sure you don't miss any of our web site updates subscribe via Feedburner now.

God bless,
Lisa Copen
